Elevator pitches are effective, quick ways of practicing your IT marketing daily. They key is to say something memorable and quick, and to use it whenever appropriate. In this article, you learn how to make your elevator speech stand out for effective IT marketing.

For example, you get in the elevator on the 20th floor and you see a man or woman that is very well-dressed. This person looks like an executive who could potentially be a good customer of yours. You're both leaving the same cocktail party. She looks down at your name tag and says, "Hi Randy, how's it going?" You say, "Okay, how's it going with you?"

Most people are curious, especially at these networking events, and like many other people, she asks, "Where are you from?" This is where you need to reach in your bag of IT marketing tricks and respond with your elevator pitch.

"A company that repairs, builds, and upgrades computers." If her computers happen to be a mess, she may ask for a card or ask you further questions.

Examples of effective elevator pitches

"I'm xxx with xxx and we make it our business to help small and mid-sized businesses learn how to get the best benefits out of their computers, the Internet and networking productivity."

Another one is, "Our service team specializes in on-site business service and networking solutions. We also provide consulting in the areas of network development and ongoing maintenance."

Remember to Talk Benefits

IT marketing is all about the benefits, so it's important you give them to the people you're speaking with. You're talking about how you provide business services and you provide network consulting and if you can talk a little more about the types of problems that you help people solve, it might intrigue them a little more. You might even consider a call to action at the end, like ask them for an appointment for a consultation.

Customer Review: Audio Book Bugs Look No Further!

The SanDisk SDMX2-1024 Sansa e140 1 gb audio player is everything I wanted. Extremely easy to operate once I figured it out, runs forever on a single battery, great memory for audio books with an additional 2gb expansion slot. My friend got one that defaulted to Japanese but we fixed the problem on the menu. The price is stupendous for the amazing quality of sound. Radio pick-up is excellent. I don't download music and bought it for books and could not be more pleased.

This player is small and lightweight. I carry it in my pocket when exercising and you barely know it's there. There is an armband that comes with it + the cover if you don't have pockets. Adding songs is simply drag in drop in Windows Explorer. The screen can light up blue when you press a button and automically turns off. You can change the brightness of it too.



It works seemlessly with the SD card, but using an SD card means it powers up a little slower because it has to do a seperate "check" for the SD card slot otherwise it treats the card like internal memory. Plugging the player into the computer, the player will show up as two seperate drives 1 for the player's internal memory and 1 for the SD slot.



The best part for me is that it very handy for transferring files so it is very convenient since I transfer work from school to home and vice versa.



The bad part about this player is that it has no playlist function. You're stuck with either play by song name, artist, album, play all, etc. So you might find yourself skipping over several songs in your library because you might not want to listen to that particular track right now or maybe you just want to listen to tracks you've recently added. Overall, good player, but lack of a playlist function is inconvenient.

I bought this product a few years back, so maybe the new ones are better, but the one I have is somewhat difficult to use for long periods of time.



The way it is constructed, the bottom is a square hollow tube, with a light bulb only a few inches away from the opening. You place the tracer on top of whatever opaque photograph or paper you intend to trace. Then, after only a few minutes, the Tracer (because of the light bulb trapped inside its plastic body) heats up to extraordinary temperatures. Within five to ten minutes, it will curl a photograph and turn a printed out picture into a strangely wrinkled landscape because of the extreme heat. DO NOT use originals for tracing that you want to preserve!!!! Make a photocopy!! Also you can only enlarge a sketch that is about 4" by 4", because that is the size of the square opening on the bottom.



It has inadequate ventilation (no fans, just a few slits), because vents would make more light escape and make the projection image dimmer. The projection strength is already a little weak because a lot of the light escapes through the few small vents on the top. If you prop the Tracer up on pencils or something to give your photograph room to breathe (so it won't fry), even more light escapes and it becomes really hard to see the tracer projection on the wall. Must use in a totally black room: I had to use mine in a closet, and I had to turn it off every five or ten minutes to let it cool down for about twenty. This can be frustrating when you're on a roll. If you don't use a normal light bulb, but something that burns cooler like a fluorescent, this might work better.



Other than all that, for a relatively cheap projector, it will do the trick. It enlarges very well; I made a tiny little one-inch sketch the size of a poster. If you just plan to use this infrequently, and only for short periods of time, it's fine. If you plan to make a career out of tracing small sketches onto large canvasses or something, get a more expensive projector.

The Biggest Mistake Originators Make in Their Marketing Campaigns

If you ask the average mortgage professional what the most important aspect of a mail piece or advertisement is they would tell you that it is the headline. And they would be right. The headline can make or break a marketing campaign. But because of it's obvious importance, loan officers do tend to spend time making sure that they have a effective headline.

What they don't spend much time on is ensuring that they have the best call to action. The main goal in any marketing campaign is to get the prospect to take some sort of action (going to a seminar, setting up an appointment for a free consultation, getting them to request your special report, etc).

Most loan officers just stick a phone number at the bottom of their marketing piece with a quick little blurb to "call me for more information." This in itself isn't bad. But it can greatly improved on.

You see, the goal in your call to action is to make it as easy as possible to for the prospect to take the action that you desire. You want to decrease the resistance to act as much as you can. By just stating "call me for more information" you are creating a certain level of resistance. There is only one option you are giving them, and you are asking the prospect to call you directly.

And you will lose a ton of leads that you really shouldn't. All the potential prospects who just aren't ready to talk to a loan officer yet won't respond. They have questions that you can definitely answer, but they aren't serious enough yet to overcome the resistance to action that you have established.

But here is the key. In about 3 weeks, they may be serious enough to take action, but you will be the furthest thing on their mind. They will read a marketing piece by another loan officer and then take action.

So your goal is to have the prospect take action at the earliest stage of the buying process as you can. You want to establish a relationship with them BEFORE they become serious, but the only way for this to happen is to have them respond to your marketing piece early in the game. And you do this by lowering the resistance to call to action.

One thing that you can do to lower resistance is to give them more ways to contact you. Give them your mailing address, cell phone number, email address, etc. Some people are more comfortable writing letters. Some prefer email or phone calls. And some like the face to face meeting. If you limit your choice to just one, you will exclude a large percentage of potential leads.

Another thing you can do is make it as easy as possible for them to take the call to action. For example, you send out a direct mail campaign to your former customer base. Your call to action in this campaign is for them to fill out a survey and mail it back to you. How do you make it easy for them? You provide them with a preaddressed envelope. You put a stamp on the return envelope. You make the survey a multiple choice form where they only have to circle the appropriate action. You perform all the steps that you can so that they are basically required to just circle a few answers on a form, and place it in the mail.

Also, give the prospect a little incentive to performing the desired call to action. In the example above, you can offer a gift certificate to everyone who completes and returns the survey. That will definitely increase your responses. Another idea is to give them a coupon (ie. $150 off closing costs) if they perform your call to action.

Kobe Bryant was one of last years best dunkers, but not even one trace of him! They had Corey Maggette, but no Kobe?
